2020 in retrospect
An exciting year is drawing to a close. In just a few days, we will experience a turn of the year unlike any other in my lifetime.
In March, when the Corona pandemic began, I had a choice to make about what it meant for me. The event business was the first to shut down. My main business as a presenter, came to an almost complete halt in 2020. It was the quintessential super gloom. Few to no events that I was able to attend as a presenter. It was a hail of rejection after rejection.
Long live sports
While many business events were canceled in 2020, there were still some events that took place… even if often without an audience: sports events. Some highlights this year were the Austrian Soccer Cup Final with 198 people inside the stadium including the players, the ATP 500 Event “Erste Bank Open” in Vienna and of course the Nations League international matches of the Austrian Soccer national team.
Also a new opportunity opened up: I was allowed to host 2 big boxing events for the boxing stable Agon in Berlin. In doing so, I had the opportunity to reach people from China to Latin America and throughout Europe as a ring announcer. Here I am especially looking forward to the things to come.
A positive mindset is more important than you think
At this point, I firmly decided not to be one of the losers of the crisis… because one thing was clear to me from the beginning: every crisis in history has brought out many very big winners in addition to many losers. I pushed my mindset and started actively realigning my business. The world came together virtually in 2020… incredibly great new opportunities emerged. With this positive mindset, I was able to see the crisis as an opportunity, even a gift.
New directions in business
An important milestone in this was the launch of my blog in the spring. I took new directions, was part of virtual events with cumulatively more than 100,000 participants and was able to constantly expand my know-how in the process.
I have been booked several times as a promotional speaker. Through my growing expertise in virtual events, I came into focus with companies as a professional consultant and coach for digital events.
I also benefited personally from the lockdown. Not only did I finally have more time for my loved ones, but I was also able to work intensively on my physical fitness. I “released” almost 15 kilos of body weight this year and am literally fit as a fiddle.
A big thank you to all of you
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who believed in me and my ability and who continue to stand steadfastly by my side.
I wish us all a Happy New Year and that all our wishes come true.
Here’s to an outstanding 2021,
your Ronny
